How to apply white car wax
Most people assume that they need a tinted or colored wax in order to restore their car’s white or pearl white paint. But the fact is that your white vehicle is at least a shade of white that no colored wax can match.
Bringing out your car’s true reflection needs the actual base coat to shine through the clear coat. It’s thus the clear coat that needs to be cleaned, polished, conditioned and waxed with a clear wax to maintain the base coat’s brilliance.
Before waxing, make sure that your car is freshly washed and preferably clayed or polished. The best car wash soap should be able to wash off dirt, grime and road haze, while a bug and tar remover will dissolve and wash off baked-on tar, bug, tree sap and other contaminants.
Applying by hand
i.) If it’s a paste or liquid wax, apply a small amount of the wax on the applicator pad.
ii.) Place the face of the pad on the car paint surface and use light hand pressure to spread the wax on a small section of the vehicle’s surface. Spread the wax in overlapping circular patterns.
iii.) You may want to do a second pass over the section to ensure even coverage.
iv.) Apply the wax a section at a time and let each section dry for 3-5 minutes before wiping off.
The curing time for the wax will depend on the ambient temperature and humidity levels. A quick way to tell whether the wax is ready for wiping is through the Swipe Test. Run your index finger across a periphery section of the car body and if the wax smears, then it is not yet ready for wiping off. If you get a clear swipe, then you can remove the wax.
Use a microfiber polishing towel for the easiest removal.
Using a dual action polisher or power system
i.) Attach the waxing pad to the DA power system or polisher.
ii.) Apply a coat of the wax to the waxing pad.
iii.) Position the face of the pad flat on the paint and turn on the polisher. Buff the vehicle surface with light pressure in overlapping, circular patterns while maintaining the pad flash with the paint surface.
iv.) Once again apply the wax a section at a time and let each section dry for 3-5 minutes before wiping off.
v.) Wipe off the wax with a clean and non-abrasive microfiber towel.
vi.) Repeat the above steps until the whole car is covered.
